My project Find Your Fit came in my final year of uni. There was no real direction for this project as it could be anything we wanted it to be but that it would be better if the project idea could actually be help full to users if it was ever to go further and actually be made.
I had different ideas for what my project could be, one was an app that allowed user to have all of their TV shows in one place and then an app that controlled and monitored the amount of time spent on a gaming system. My final one was a gym app.
I decided then to go with the gym app as after I got feedback from my peers it was the one I could take the furthest.

At the start of this project, I spent a lot of time brainstorming different ideas. Some of my ideas were a sports app, a social media app for gamers, an entertainment app for movies and TV, healthcare and education.
I then came up with 30 different ideas and it took a while to come up with them but I thought the more I have the more routes I could take with this project.
I then picked my favourite ideas and presented them to my peers were I outlined my favourite ideas which were a sports app or a movie and TV app after a vote, it was decided my sports app idea was the best and it had the most scope for design and development.

The next step of the design process of Find Your Fit was to do some research and really find out if my app had any need in the real world.
To do this I created and carried out user surveys that I sent out and put on my social media accounts and I got back good results that allowed me to make the decision that my app idea does have credibility in the real world.
I then decided that I would need to look at the different direct and indirect competitors. As Find Your Fit will look to rival PureGym they are my main direct competitor, I downloaded their app and carried out an analysis on what I thought was good, what was bad and what I could do better in Find Your Fit.
I also looked at some other competitors like the local councils to see what they offer in their gyms and then on google to see what comes up when you search for gyms.
Empathy Mapping
As part of the research stage of my project I created an empathy map as a way of finding out my users behaviours and attitudes. It shows me how my users think/feel, what they see, what they hear and also what they say and do. It also highlights their pains and gains
By creating an empathy map I was able to uncover user needs that we were not aware of before. I discovered different gaps in my research that I had not thought of before and from here I can now go and create different user personas based on my empathy map.
After carrying out the steps above I then created different user personas of the different types of people who would be users of Find Your Fit, I created 4 different user personas all different ages and interests as Find Your Fit is for anyone any age.
By doing this task it really helped me figure out who would be using my app, what devices they may have access to, their motivations to use my app, the goals they want to achieve, their personality, their frustrations and finally their different UX needs.
All of these things allowed me to paint a good picture of my users and helped me when deciding on what to include in my app.
I also created a user journey as part of my research on the different steps that a user will take when carrying out different actions in the app to get to their end goal.
This allowed me to visualise journeys, as it created a descriptive narrative that I couls use and leane from to helpo me shaoe my app and it tells me a user-centred story abiut the process from start to finish
Coming up with my logo and name was a long but good journey I did loads of research and toyed with many different names, logo ideas and colours. the images below show part of the journey i took to get my designs down.
I started with just a simple square with text in the middle as my logo but as I did more research and looked a geometric shapes like the square and when I had decided on the name Find Your Fit I looked at shapes making up the F in the name.
I then landed on the logo in the bottom left and originally was gonna have the two logos animate into one but after feedback it was decided that I would just use the one logo so then the logo on the bottom right became my chosen logo and I was very happy and satisfied with the outcome after many hours of research and trying different avenues.
After carrying out my research and deciding on my brand I then started sketching simple ideas of what some of the different screens that I will have in Find Your Fit and what they will look like.
I wanted to have an onboarding process for FYF so I designed a simple login and sign up page for it where users can login using their email and a password and the same for sign u but the difference being they have to created a password. later on in the process I decided to add where users can log in using Google or Apple.
To make FYF more personal to users I added in a section were they can choose different options for what they are looking for in a gym so the app will tailor what it shows gym wise to what the user is looking for
Find Your Fit will give users gyms based on their locations so I have a section where the user can opt to agree for the app to use their location to show them small gyms based in where they live
The main part of Find Your Fit is the home screen as this is where the user will be able to access the main features of the app, from home they can access all the main features of the app. Users can see recent activity, achievements, booking history and any upcoming sessions they may have.
From the home screen the user will be able to access the booking page, where they can search for classes and gyms but also filter between location, time, date, class type and rating of class. From this page the user can also choose a class and then go on and boom the class if they so please. I have not included all of my sketches of my screens here to see more check out my notion

This short video of Find Your Fit shows the in a nearly finished state. The video shows the home screen, the hub section, and booking a class among other elements. I will upload a more in-depth video once the app is completed.
